This is a bit unfortunate because the diamond decoration on the box hides some of the more interesting “melting” of the original details. The “drip” appearance of this chassis remains the same, but the 2013 version of the chassis is much cleaner and brighter than the weird original chassis. It should also be noted that the original of the dial indicates that the watch was produced in London (because the office was in London at the time), while the modern version simply attached the typical “Swiss Made” tag to the dial.
Larger than the original, the 2013 Cartier Collision Watch will be 25.5 mm wide and 38.45 mm high. The interior will be hand-wound mechanical movement, and the entire 2013 collection will be limited to 267 pieces of standard bracelet and 67 full diamond bracelets. This watch is pure gold with a 2.15-carat or 4.27-carat jewel that can only be purchased at a Cartier store and is usually only available through special order. Swiss Cartier Watches is fully aware that such a watch (especially at its price point) is at least a niche model. Despite its strange history, the authenticity and heritage is what brands need to continue to attract ordinary consumers. In particular, Cartier has done an amazing job, launching interesting and unique products year after year to complement their larger base for larger-scale production of watches and jewelry.
